Tom Langmyer new VP of KMOX, St. Louis

Former WSYR/WYYY operations director, Tom Langmyer, has been named vice president and general manager of St. Louis market leader KMOX AM. He moved from Syracuse to the news/talk station in 1992 to serve as program director and was named operations manager in 2000.
Langmyer is a nominee for a 2003 R&R News/Talk Industry Achievement Award as programmer of the year. KMOX was also nominated as News/Talk station of the year.

Tom Langmyer has been named as Vice President/General Manager of KMOX effective immediately.
As KMOX Director of Operations for 10 years, Tom has led KMOX through a dynamic news era. He has the distinction of leading the prestigious staff to a national record for consecutive number one showing in Arbitron Ratings. KMOX has had 42 consecutive #1 ratings books since his arrival in 1992.
Tom is a 20-year, full-line broadcasting veteran. During his career, he has served as a program director, account executive, air personality, talk show host, news anchor/reporter, news director, technical director, sports commentator, and airborne traffic pilot/reporter. He has worked for several stations, including WGR-AM/FM and WBEN-AM/FM in Buffalo, NY and WTAE-AM in Pittsburgh, PA. He has also served as a consultant to WNEW-AM in New York and several other stations in a variety of music and talk formats. Before joining KMOX, he worked from 1986-1992 as Operations Director for NewCity’s WSYR-AM (News-Talk)/WYYY-FM (Hot Adult Contemporary) in Syracuse, NY. During his tenure there, both stations dominated the ratings.
In 2002 and 2003, Langmyer was nominated for Radio and Records’ “News/Talk Programmer of the Year” award. He will attend this year’s awards dinner in Los Angeles, in hopes of receiving this honor. In 2001 and 2002, he was named to Radio Ink magazine’s list of the top 10 “Best Program Directors in America.” He has received three top management awards from his previous employer, NewCity (COX) Communications and an award from Billboard Magazine for his work in Adult Contemporary music formats. He has been featured in industry publications Radio Ink, Radio and Records and Billboard and spoken at numerous industry and community functions.
Tom’s role will be to manage the overall operation of KMOX, including selecting personalities, overseeing the news department, programming, sports, marketing and business functions. His programming input for Infinity Broadcasting St. Louis will be valuable to developing a winning product. Together we will continue to grow Infinity Broadcasting’s role as the premier radio group in St. Louis.
