PHOENIX, NY -- CNYRadio.com, the Internet's most comprehensive
source for news relating to the Syracuse and Utica-Rome radio markets,
is celebrating its one-year anniversary. Launched on July 1, 2001, with
the goal of consolidating information from more than 65 radio industry
and station online resources, CNYRadio.com has grown steadily in
popularity since its debut and currently receives in excess of 16,000
page views from more than 5,000 visits each month.
By offering a full listing of schedules, air personality profiles,
ratings, and contact information for more than 50 radio stations in the
Central New York area, as well as over 350 news stories posted within
the past year, radio industry professionals and the general public have
come to rely on CNYRadio.com's timely, comprehensive coverage.
According to founder and site manager, Scott Jameson, "The response has
been tremendous. It's more than we could have hoped for when we started
putting the pieces of the puzzle together last spring." He credits much
of the site's success to the cooperation and input of the Central New
York radio community. "Without the help of station program directors
and on-air staff, CNYRadio.com would not be as full-featured as it is.
Plus they keep us in line and let us know when we get things wrong,"
The site's newest feature, unveiled in June, is an online
store featuring CNYRadio.com shirts, mugs, and mouse pads, links to
apparel and merchandise for 15 area radio stations, and listings for
over 100 radio-related books, CDs, and DVDs available at Amazon.com. In
all, over 250 products are available for purchase online from the CNY
Other features of the site include links to archived audio airchecks,
"On the Air" -- a weekly radio-related comic strip penned by Jameson,
and a "Picture of the Week" posted every Friday highlighting a recent
headline or a look back at a classic photo from the past.
Future plans for the site include the addition of in-depth feature
articles on timely radio-related topics, profiles of legendary icons of
Syracuse radio, and an expansion of station listings to include the
Ithaca and Watertown markets.
Site manager Scott Jameson, a full-time software engineer, has been
involved in Syracuse-area radio for 21 years and is a former WSEN FM
news director. Jameson has been a part-time air personality at Oldies
92.1 since 1989.
