WNSS picks up SkyChiefs broadcasts

Friday, March 01, 2002

The SkyChiefs have a new radio home. After being dropped from SportsRadio 620 WHEN last month, team management inked a one-year deal with ESPN Radio 1260 WNSS to broadcast the team's 144 regular-season games.

The new contract calls for the SkyChiefs to hire the on-air talent for the play-by-play broadcasts, a role for which team manager John Simone hopes to retain current announcer Bob McElligott. Even though McElligott is sports director for rival WHEN, it looks like station management on both sides are open to that possibility.
