Former news anchor Ron Curtis dies

Local television news legend Ron Curtis died yesterday after a year-long battle with cancer. Curtis, who began his long television career at channel 5 in 1960, started out in radio at the age of 15 when he dropped out of Solvay high school to take an announcing job at WFBL AM. His radio career also included time at 62 WHEN where he hosted a program called The Record Room. He retired from his anchor duties at WTVH one year ago this week. Curtis is survived by his wife and four children. He was 74.
