WUCL becomes 'The River'

Monday, December 27, 2004

UTICA-ROME -- After two years as Kool 93.5, WUCL has flipped formats from a blend of oldies to classic hits and has become The River 93.5.

Jack Moran, the station's program director and afternoon host, says the goal of the new format is to offer music from a broader range of artists including Jimmy Buffett, Little Feat, and Bob Marley. As for the station's imaging, expect "no hype, no nonsense just the hits."

With the format change comes a change in the jock lineup as well as 96.9 WOUR veteran Tom Starr returns to the airwaves at The River's midday personality.

Clear Channel Communications, which owns the Remsen-licensed station, made the change following WUCL's month-long holiday music stint which ended on Saturday.
